So yesterday I sold my amp to very good friend my
59 bassman. I wasn't strapped for cash but...
I took some cash to my local musicians candy store and
brought home a hot rod twin 2x12 deville. After the sale
I still had 150.00 to spare.

I don't feel bad about it at all. Went to a good home.
Plus he will put it to work, gigs pretty regularly.

I'm very happpy with my 2X12 deville, it sounds great.

Now all my guitars sound different. Very sweet, and overdrive
easily.
I might sell some other gear I have, including my hwy 1.

FIRE SALE....

I just started reading "The Soul of Tone" and that amp is like "The" amp!

Though if you felt the time was right and it went to a good friend and you're happy with no regrets... Then you did the right thing!

the bassman was great. It was the right time.
This amp is a gigging amp.
So is the hr deville. But I love to clean tones better on the deville
for some reason.

had it for 2-3 yrs, it was good, solid.
it came, it went, and now is a seperate chapter in tone.
3 things i love from this amp that the bass man doesn have:
1. effects loop..
2. reverb, even though i keep it at 2 or 3.
3. and a drive channel, and more drive.
did i mention tone and 2x12.

no regrets.

If you are looking for Fender cleans, the tweed is going in the wrong direction anyway. The Bassman is a great amp, definetely better built than the HR.I always felt the drive, more drive of the HRs really lacking.I have yet to hear a channel switching amp outside of the Marshall camp that sounds decent.

In that regard I wouldn't mind having my '61 Concert Amp back. The Concert evolved from the Bassman. Swapped that out for a Line 6 AXsys about 10+ years ago and then upgraded it to an AX2 when the new chip was issued. The company's original intent was to continually upgrade the amp's technology, but that never happened. That amp is worth squat now on a trade. Dealers won't even touch it. :(

i agree, im not a journeyman just someone who likes to jam with other buddies.
sold the bassman a good friend, he will work it.
i got a good deal on 2x12 hr deville, the drive and more drive are lacking and
ofcourse dont compare to marshall.
however price difference around 2grand.
besides, thats why i have pedals, ts808 in the direct chain and the blues driver in the effects loop.

I myself have a HR Deluxe and a HR Deville 410 both are modded (I dont know what was changed but it cost me $90 in parts and $60 labor) anyhow with a Boss BD-2 I find nothing lacking in the HR's.....I love both the amps to death.

Seems to me that a '57 Twin might cut it. 8)
