i have an amber Dlx std with SCN's and a tortoiseshell pickguard and cream pickups/knobs.

was considering giving it a white/off white pickguard and black knobs and pickups.

Canyou change the covers on the SCN's? anyone think this is a bad idea?

From what I understand, they are not designed to be removed and doing so will destroy the pickup.

The SCN pickup covers are non-removable.

As stated, they are fully enclosed and, I believe, taller, requiring a deep routing to accommodate them.

The SCN's are .125" taller than a standard single-coil pickup and require a longer-and-specific mounting screw. They will however fit the standard (ie: traditional) single-coil routs.
