As some of you will know from another thread, I was hoping to cut a great deal on a Roadhouse Strat. It turns out that I just couldn't make it work out in my favour so, instead of that, I picked up a 2010 Fender Standard Strat (MIM) in Brown Sunburst finish - I managed to get a good trade-in on my Epi SG and also got the Strat for $70 less than their normal price.

Although the photos displayed here don't really do the burst justice, it is one of the nicest bursts I've seen in a while. I must say that, so far, I am very very impressed with this Strat in terms of both looks and feel and cannot wait until the new strings settle in so that I can hear what she can really do (getting a little bit of fret buzz that I attribute to the new strings I installed).

Anyway, here are some photos from my NGD!

I had a 2006 MIM Sunburst which I just recently got rid of because I upgraded to a MIA Sunburst, but IMO, that was one of the best guitars I've ever had in over 37 years of playing. They're great guitars for the price and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours just like I did with mine.

I think they are great guitars too. Admittedly, I have limited experience with Strats but I get the impression that at least some of the complaints about them are more the result of cork sniffing and snobbery than anything else.

Congrats! Which colour/fretboard combination did you get?

Great guitars!

They really are - I'm almost sorry now that I wasted time with my Epiphones. Then again, if I hadn't I might not appreciate the Strat as much as I do.

colchar,
I got Maple fretboard and Lake Placid Blue. My wife and I will be retiring not far from Lake Placid and the color is sharp. My MIM Tele is in burst so I can really appreciate yours!!!

My former roommate had the Squier in that combination and it looked really sweet. I was dead set on a maple fretboard and the box for mine was labeled 'maple' but it turned out to be rosewood and, looking at my burst now, I am glad that it was.

But I can picture exactly how that Lake Placid blue with a maple board looks and damn but its sweet.

Yes, the burst does extend well beyond the contour on the back.

The burst is one of the most unique I have seen and I am rather proud of this guitar. I took some better photos today (still not great, but better than the ones I originally posted) so here are a couple of those. In some of them you can see the grain of the wood and in others the burst is emphasized. The last couple really show off the burst.
