Help! I was playing my new Eric Johnson tonight and it just died. I thought it might be the amp (Fender Blues Jr.) but it works fine with other inputs.

No sound coming out of the amp on any of the pick ups with tone and volume knobs in every possible position.

ideas?

If it's not the patch cable it sounds most likely that the wiring has come off the input, just unsrew the guitar's input and see if the wiring is intact.

Thanks, kids ran off with all my cables so that could be the problem. It's not moving the needle with plugged into a tuner either.

concur. An electric guitar does not just "die", if there is no output a wire came undone, or the jack is not making good contact with the plug.

Since you have no sound in any switch position, it is safe to assume it is jack related. If the jack looks like it is making good contact with a cord, and the wires still look firmly soldered to the contacts, you will need to pull the pick guard and see if any wires came off from where the jack wires go to.

Most likely an issue at the jack is my bet.

Thanks for the help guys. It was the cable. Go figure, brand new factory Fender cable? Had me crapping in my pants last night.

I replaced it with a Mogami Platinum. Cant tell a damn bit of difference. Still sounds great though!

No sound from the guitar? Who woulda thunk it was a bad cable??

Glad it was an easy fix. Live and learn.
