I played this today:

The Fender Custom Shop '56! Now with ABBY HANDWOUND pickups!!! Many 1-off upgrades for better tone and playability with a killer vintage "Light Relic" vibe & feel!

Features include:

- Light weight Ash body
- 1-piece Quartersawn Maple neck
- Custom 50's Fat "V" profile
- 9.5" radius, 6105 frets
- Truss rod adjustment at headstock
- Vintage Staggered tuners
- Abigail Ybarra HAND-WOUND 50's pickups

(If anyone knows how to post pics, let me know and I'll post a pic)

OMG!!!! I played it through the clean channel on a Shiva. It sounded like the angels in heaven.

But I really can't (shouldn't) drop 2.5K right now with my oldest going to college.

You're asking the wrong crowd if you're looking to be talked out of buying new gear.

Maybe ask your wife for her permission.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

College/University students are going to be pretty damn skint, no matter how much you give them. 2.5k would help, but in the grand scale of things it's not going to make a huge difference over the lenth of his course.

Buy the guitar. It'l pay for itself. Honest.

College is only a few years, a Strat is for a lifetime. :D Seriously though, I had to work my way through college.......buy it! Unless you think that your kid will get a good job and buy it for you! Can you wait that long?

Talk some sense into you, buy the guitar and play the crap out of it. You can always blame a mid-life crisis hit you and you needed to splurge. It was this or a new Camero or Challenger. You'll come out looking like a saint after that.

I'd chew my own leg off if it meant getting a guitar with Abby pups.

amen to that first statement. this is the WRONG group seriously.
as for the second comment......... screw that crap.
we are men dang it. we are musicians, hard core guitar players,
in this case as well as many other gear purchases, we must take a stand,
beat our chests and claim what is ours.
the lesson in short: sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than it is permission. go get that guitar tomorrow first thing.
you know your STILL thinking about it anyways.
just hide it at a friends house and intercept the mail man
for a couple months when the card bill come in.

All of you are a bunch of enablers!!!!

As far as me putting her through school. I put myself through school and know how hard it was to make that up, so I really want to help. She got a 15K/year scholarship and is already borrowing 5.5K/year. Most of the balance is mine. She is majoring in BioChem and Spanish...when she goes to Med school its all on her though.

Anyway, back to topic. I think I need to sell something.

How do I post a pic???
