There's no one string that is better to use for blues rock, use all six.

Personally I use Elixir´s Nanoweb 0.10-0.46. Great tone, shining bright, awesome durability. Last about 6 months with a set playing every day.
About the bluesy thing, just keep in mind that no matter what kind or brand of strings you use, no matter even your pickups and strat model, the TONE you search is in YOU. Take that musical journey inside yourself and your fingers will follow you.
What I mean is get a Mexican Standard Stratocaster to Eric Clapton or David Gilmour and it will sound as the most expensive Custom Shop ever made.
No matter squiers, mexicans, japaneses, koreans; no matter the type of wood. Music is in your soul, if you havent sold it yet for the crossroads devil. If thats the case join Robert Johnson and let the devil speak throught your fingers.

"May the Tone be with You!"

I used Fender 150s for 30 years until last year I started using D'Addarios to see what all the fuss was about, they do sound very good...and blues is what I play.
But like people say,it's more than strings,to me the pickups and amp are the biggest piece of the tune puzzle...that and learning how to phrase your solos and put the feeling into the music.
I think it takes most people years to be a true blues player...oh yeah we see young people who have the chops and sound....but to me there's things that enter into the music from experience, both life and music, that can't be learned easily or copied.

Strings are a very personal choice. It's very subjective. There is no "best" strings for musical genres anyway. If you get 100 replies, then you'll get 100 different answers. I suggest getting a few different sets of strings and try each for a week or so and decide on the set which feels best to YOU.

+1 I´ve tried D´ddarios, Ernie Balls, GHS, Dean Markley, until I´ve tried the Elixir Nanowebs. Cause of my sweating hands problem, witch in fact i treat with 'driclor' and i can say its great, I do prefer the Elixirs cause of the durability. While Elixirs last for me from 3 to 6 months depending on playability, any other non-coated within 2 weeks are all black rusted strings and lacking tone.

As Metropolis stated string choice is purely subjective.I have used D'Addario 8-38 for decades and have found them to hold their tuning and new tone longer than many others.A lot of people would say that 8-38 is too light and impossible to get good tone out of but I get gobs of tone from them, then again others swear by Fender,Ernie Ball,GHS etc. it all depends on what you feel most comfortable with.Your best bet is to experiment with different gauges until you find the gauge that you're most comfortable with and then find the brand of string that feels and sounds best to you in the gauge that you like. You have to keep in mind that changing string gauge means usually changing the intonation if you go up or down more than one string gauge.

In the 40+ years of me playing Blues Rock, the Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009 gauge set has served me well. Yes, that's the pink pack.

I'm with Martian on the Earnie Ball .009 Super Slinky "Pinks". I've tried many brands and love their sound and feel as well as ability to stay in tune.

You have to find the brand and gauge that works best for you.
