So I found a barely used one with the Floyd ii system on it
also it is fitted with two Suhr humbuckers

there is virtually no fretware

are these guitars really good? What is the value?
I was thinking of spending more money and getting a custom shop custom classic instead

btw

Can the Floyd trem be replaced with the American standard without mids and is the American standard trem better?

Also what is the nut width on these gutars? 1 5/8? Or 11/16?

Thanks!!

Hi Tone?,

Is the "Strat Plus Deluxe" a modified guitar? Got any pics of the nut and bridge and is there a locking nut? I have to say that if you have the option of getting a "Custom Classic" Custom Shop model, it doesn't get much better than that.

Perhaps you're talking about a USA Contemporary Stratocaster built by John Suhr (2nd photo below) during his Custom Shop days in the early 1990's. This guitar had the Deluxe Locking Bridge Assembly with an LSR roller nut and Sperzel locking tuners.

The earlier USA Contemporary models were available with Lace Sensors; later versions featured two Texas Special single-coils and a Duncan Trembucker. Other features include a white pearloid pickguard and a bookmatched flame maple top over an ash body.

Suhr humbuckers? Are you certain? So did this Deluxe Plus have an HH or an HSH config?

The most common HH config for a Suhr guitar is a JST SSH in the neck and a JST DSV+ in the bridge. If you throw in a JST V60LP in the middle, you'll get an extremely versatile HSH combination.

Fender switched to that Floyd Rose type bridge sometime in mid to late 1993 on the Strat Plus Deluxe and the Strat Ultra. These would have had a universal route under the pickguard, so it sounds like a previous owner replaced the stock Lace Sensors (should have a blue label in the neck, a silver label in the middle, and a red label in the bridge spot) with a set of Suhr humbuckers.

John didn't start winding his own pickups until after he had Suhr Guitars up and running for a couple of years.

Fender continued to offer the Floyd Rose bridge (now called Deluxe Locking Tremolo Assembly) with the American Deluxe series in 1998 and the Custom Shop Showmaster line in 1999.

As of 2007 the deluxe locking bridge is no longer in production, though I've had hoped a welcomed return of that product for the 2010 American Deluxes and the DiMarzio Area-equipped Custom Shop Classic Fusions, with its latest reincarnation sporting a copper-infused high-mass steel block.

From what I've read either the American Standard or the American Deluxe would be a drop-in replacement - they use the same posts. Of course you would also need to remove or replace the back plate - if I'm remembering correctly these had solid back plates without any holes for the strings.

So what are the neck specs on these guitars?

1.650 width at nut or 1.68?

1.6875" at the nut on these; modern C shape.
