I have a problem of my 15 yr old floyd rose 2 fender squire Stratocaster, well its been almost 4 years since i haven't played my guitar because i switched to washburn x series. But im not satisfied with its tone and sh1t so ive decided to switch back to my old fender.

anyways here is the problem.

all strings are good except for the 3rd string. which is the G. i connected my fender to my amp and strummed the strings. And i noticed that something is wrong. so i picked the strings then found out that the G string is not working. it doesn't give a sound when picked. . can anyone help me with this?

i wonder what's wrong with my guitar.. i haven't experienced this kind of problem before with other electric guitars.

pls.. really need ur help.

thanks.. :(

Oftentimes, it is just a very dead string. Try a new set before ripping the guitar apart.

+1
If the string sounds dead in all pickups positions, then it's the string to blame and not the pickups. Easy fix; put on new strings. After 4 years of non-use, the strings could have become rusty or corroded. When I bought my Gretsch, it had been hanging on a wall in a studio for a few years and not been used and the rusty "D" string was almost silent when playing through an amp no matter the pickup selection or tone/volume settings. Changed strings and it's good as new!

Let us know if new strings don't fix the problem. Good luck.
