So the other day I walked into the local music store and saw an old strat sitting on the wall, so I decided to ask the clerk what kind it was...

A 1959 STRATOCASTER!!!!!!

After regaining all of my senses, I asked the shop clerk how much he was selling it, and he told me that I better start dreaming....

it was selling for $14,500...

One could dream though right?

well considering on ebay..a 59 Strat starts at $18,000...and works up to $42,000..then yes,,,if this Strat is legit, it is a good price..probably at a fair appraisal value if it is legit and has most of the original hardware and electronics.

Problem is, most of us can not afford $1400..so yes , it is nothing but a dream.

at this point in the game, if i had $14,000 to burn, i would buy enough parts to make a dozen or so nice re-issues,,,sell those, then use the profits to buy that 59 for 14 grand and would break even. But since I do not have 14 grand to burn, I have to make due with constructing as close as i can to my dream guitar, with 500 bucks.

I was eye-balling a one-owner '64 Strat in a store this weekend.

It's on consignment with a price of $12k but I'm pretty sure I could swing it for around ten large.

A factory refin (LPB over original 3TSB) with the OHSC, ash tray, all the requisite candy.

But the price my better half would exact for such profligacy would be exceedingly steep......

At least two thousand pairs of new shoes.

And a promise to never again leave the seat and lid up.
