Hi all, new here, my first post.
Like the subject line says, I have a 2009 Hiway 1 Strat, and there is no posted wiring diagram/parts list etc. in the support section, under "Highway 1™ Stratocaster® Upgrade 2005" it's blank, no downloads.
The pre-rev Hw1, and pre-and-post rev lefty Hw1 have all the info available.
When I look at the actual wiring, there are 2 ceramic disk caps per pot and no resistor, so it's not the same as the pre-rev Hw1 OR the lefty post-rev... Any idea where I can get the correct diagram/parts list??
Anyone do a treble bleed mod on one of these? In the stock circuit, tone goes to poop when you roll off the volume...

Here's what I've done so far:
1. Wilde Bill (Lawrence) Pups, 280's in neck and middle, 290 in the bridge.
Sound is greatly improved and NO NOISE, almost at all, even with a keeley-modded TS1 overdrive pedal and boosted OD channel on a Marshall Haze 40 watt combo! These pups work well and are not expensive.
2. Moved the bottom tone control to the bridge, bridge/middle pups.
3. Q-filter Mod, really makes an interesting tone mod, can kind of simulate an acoustic guitar... scooped mids thing. Still working with it, going to try different capacitors in it. Wilde Bill Lawrence gadget.
4. Treble bleed mod, but not happy with it yet, still trying different cap/resistor values/series/parallel, etc. That's why I asked if anyone has done this on a post-rev Hw1.
5. Solid bridge saddles, allparts version. Good results, guitar is more resonant (more sustain across the board, even when not plugged in) plus the screws are larger than the original, etc.

Really like this guitar, got it for $600 new locally in 2009, spent about $200 extra so far... and it's starting to sound like I want. I'd probably tweak ANY Strat I bought... so WTH!!

I saw a Hiway 1 bash thread when I was researching my question... you get what you play for. If you don't want to work on a guitar, by all means spend more money and don't get quite what you want. It's certainly quicker!

Hey bonedaddio,

You might send an email with your model info and serial number to Fender and they can probably tell you which diagram is for your guitar. Sounds like you've done a lot of mods, that's great. I like to do the same.

One thing that you might consider for tone improvement, is to see if your bridge block will attract a magnet, stay clear of the springs, they are steel. If the block does not attract to the magnet, then you can put a better block in and will get a nice increase in sustain and tone. I like steel blocks from Callaham, but there are others you can try, like brass. Either will be a big improvement over the pot metal block that you probably have.

hwy1 upgrades are steel blocks, so i think hes fine with the mass block. im going for callaham saddles narrow 1/16 and callaham tremolo springs for my 09/hwy too.
also im considering german schaller locking tuners and a set of cs69.
i think it will be killer after its done.

gonna run on a fender pro jr and boss me-70.

Yes, I do have a steel block.

Thanks, I will email them... it seems odd that they don't have the upgrade wiring diagram etc. posted.

Look at those allparts narrow bridge saddles... they're much more solid, and do increase sustain some. I think they're worthy of consideration.

Les

Are you going to rewire and remove the greasebucket ? Im curious to know if the bells sounds better without the tone circuit. I feel the same as you with volume below 7. Tone goes 'poop'.
