I've only ever owned one electric guitar, and it has an ebony neck. I like it, but my favourite type of neck is maple, thats what's going to be on my upcoming strat :-) I think maple feels the best to play on, looks the best, and ages well.

What are your preferences as to necks, do you stand by one type or a mixture, what do you like for playability vs looks?

For aesthetic purposes only, maple. My JEM is rosewood, Clapton maple, PRS Custom 24 rosewood, Ibanez RG450DX rosewood, Martin rosewood.

I like maple.

i like the feel of maple but all my guitars have rose wood. My upcoming guitar (tele standard ash) which is on lay away has a maple fret and should sound sexy and look

I prefer Maple. I have a couple guitars with Rosewood, but for some reason I just like Maple better.

I don't have a preference. My Strat Ultra and the Gibson ES-347 both have ebony boards, The 1970-1971 Stratocaster and the Gibson L6-S have a rosewood board. The Baja Tele has a maple board. I think it has no effect on sound, but I like the look of all of them.

I like to say I have an ebony fingerboard on any guitar, and especially on a Fender. My best guitars for sound are the ones with the Ebony boards, but I think the Lace Sensors on the Strat and the Dirty Fingers pickups on the Gibson make ALL the difference. These are stellar pickups.

Rosewood here on all my guitars (electric, acoustic, 6 string or 12 string) - I just prefer the look and feel.

I dont think I like one over the other (although most mine are RW) I take what I think goes good with the color of the guitar.

I just love a strat with a maple/maple fret board. I love the feel, tone and especially the look.

However, all my favorite players seem to use maple/rosewood. Go figure.

I prefer the looks of Rosewood, but I have 1 Stratocaster with maple.

I think Fender is the only one who ever got maple right. I like maple. Now I would never buy one of those new Les Pauls that Have the maple neck. It's not right, Gibson gets Rosewood.

All my Fenders have maple necks, I tried one of the Gibson Power whatever it was called... with the maple neck... I got splinters :D

Maple allows for marginally easier bending and rosewood gives you more feel but I really don't care which I use although some guitars look better to some with one or the other.
