1986-2000 USA Standard
2000-2008 American Series
2008-Present American Standard

Yours is a USA Standard, The fact that it has 2 string trees and the modern 2 point trem is the giveaway. Fender went to one string tree in 2000 with the revamped American Series guitars.

Actually they were called the "American Standard" from 1986-July 2000.

As usual with Fender, there were several models and series available. But the 2 string trees is 100% normal and expected on a 93 USA standard. Why cast doubt? This ax is about as clean and original as you can get.

Sorry, but you are wrong. From '86-2000 they were called USA Standards not American Standards. I owned enough of them to know. Maybe in the States they were sold as American Standards but over here in the UK it was definately USA Standards. I don't think Fender UK existed at the time, they used an independant distributor. So maybe they marketed them differently. All this guy needs to know is he owns an American made Stratocaster, says it all.

Then I guess we are both right. If they were called that in the UK then they were renamed by the UK distributor. Here in the USA they were most definitely called the American Standard. In fact I still have a Guitar Player Magazine from August 1987 that very clearly identifies the guitar a "Fender American Standard"; it is the cover shot of the "Strat Mainia" issue.

That's why there was a lot of head-scratching here when they brought back the "American Standard" name in 2008 - if they were going to do that, then why did they bother to change the name in 2000?

In all honesty I thought you were mixing them up with the USA-made reissues - they were called the "US Vintage Reissues" by both CBS (1982-1984) and by FMIC (1986-1998); they didn't change to "American Vintage" until they were reworked in 1998.
