Hello to all,

well I am ready to purchase a new axe and after playing a bunch of guitars and i mean a bunch it all comes down to a strat i guess.

I recently played a bunch of Suhrs and really wanted to dig em but i didnt quite get there. I did like a basswood i played today but not as much as a Strat plus deluxe

can anyone tell me what the nut width is on those?
also can the Floyd rose II trem be replaced with a american standard trem without mods?

i am kinda torn between that and getting an Custom Shop Custom Classic series. the only prob with those is they dont have a humbucker in them.
but that isnt a prob because if i really dig it i will either route if for one or put a hot rails in it.

what do you guys think?
the used Strat plus with Suhr pickups in it for 850$ that is barely used
or a Custom shop Custom Classic??

ideas??

i am ultimately looking for a killer H/S/S guitar with all maple neck and a 1 5/8 nut width. it is ok if the nut is 1 11/16 but i would prefer the more narrow one.

thanks!!

Mate thats a tough call- you are trying to decide over two totally different guitars in two different price brackets.

Personally if you can afford the CS guitar, then Id say go for that. But you want an HSS layout and a american std trem- so why not go for the Am Deluxe HSS with S1? that will give more tone possibilities and be easier on the pocket for you.
Or the Red/Silver/Blue lace sensor layout is good on the Plus Deluxe, the red sensor is hotter than most single coils and has humbucker-ish tone.

But ultimately, you are comparing two different guitars. Im biased towards the plus line anyway but if I had the moola for a CS and was in the market- I'd take it. Perhaps save a little more and order a CS with a humbucker :)

i do have the money

thing is that you dont know how something is gonna turn out till ya play it.

my ultimate guitar would be an alder or ash or basswood bodied guitar, with a H/S/S with a simple C shape neck .830-.920 one piece maple unfinished with oil and wax.

i could have 3 guitars outta the wood i mentioned and dig all of them.

I absolutely LOVE my AXIS EBMM neck but it is a TAD bit narrow for me.

and the tone of the AXIS is to die for but i cant play easy on the neck cause i have big paws.

tried the suhrs and they were too bright.

It sounds like your interests would be better served with a Jackson, Charvel, or Ibanez guitar......

Go to your nearest customshop dealer and ask them to quote you on a strat with oil/wax finished neck but a little wider- I wouldnt worry too much about the way it will turn out- you can spec it just the way you want it and I assure you would like it. Why dont you ask Mike Eldred in the "Ask Mike Eldred" thread and see what he says. Tell him what you want and he can give you advice. You wont know till you try. Even other members here may have been in the same boat as you but I havent heard of a dissatisfied CS owner at all- perhaps it comes down to the aftercare :)
