Hey.

I've taken the plunge, and have got some Custom Shop 69's to put into my H1 Stratocaster (rosewood board).

It's taken me almost a year of reading reviews and watching people's home-made videos online to make this decision. :)

As much as I like the Alnico 3's, they simply can't provide some of the clean tones I'm after. After almost a year of owning the guitar - with the only other mod being Schaller locking tuners - I decided to go for it.

I'm 99.9% sure I'll be really happy with this particular change - the last one I'm intending to make.

I plan to leave the greasebucket circuit alone, as well as the tone control configuration (both of which I got used to really quickly, and like a lot), and I'm also going to copper shield the guitar, since it's being worked on anyway.

Anyone else done this particular mod? Any opinions?

CS'69s are a great set of pickups. I put them into my standard strat. I didn't bother doing copper shielding though, and the hum doesn't seem to bad to me anyway. But if you're going to do it, remember to connect it to the ground

One of my guitars is an '05 Hwy One and I went with CS69's in it, along with a few other mods.

I shielded it also, same as my online collaborator & friend from Sweden did here :

The Callaham are great option too! And they look as vintage as the original saddles!

I have a set in one of my American Strats and I like them alot. For cleans they are especially crisp and clear. Not as much bass in the in between positions as the stock pickups, but the neck position will have a nice thump to it.

CS69s are the way to go. I'm beyond pleased that I bought my '67 Reissue with them in it.

And talk about a set of pickups that can get down right nasty. I have a Russian-built BM and they respond excellently to it.

I am tempted to throw a set of CS54s or CS Fat '50s in the MIM, though, just to see how that would go ...

Here's a picture of the pickups (just got 'em) - I've just got to get the copper shielding, and away we go.

I'm off work for a month as of today, so I'm sure I'll have a chance to try them out properly. 8)

No worries!

As soon as they're in, I'll share my opinion(s). From what I've read/seen online, the greasebucket circuit should be good with these pickups.
