Well after many months of deliberating I finally made a decision on which Stratocaster to purchase. Having played at least 20 different Strats, I bought a candy cola American Standard Strat at Sam Ash. A bunch of great people work at the Sam Ash store near my house. I could not be happier. I would like to thank all of you answered my first post about Strats, it was helpful. I have bought a few guitars over the last 45 years, but this is the first new guitar I have purchased since 1967 when I special ordered a Fender Telecaster. I felt like a kid at Christmas bringing my new guitar home. I plan on posting a couple of photo tomorrow even though you all have seen many Strats before.

Wow, congratulations! :) It must be a special one to have tried 20 guitars before making your purchase, hope to see some pics- we dont see candy cola here too often, is it like midnight wine?

Kenny,

Congratulation. I also purchased an American Strat 6 months ago and it was my first "real" guitar purchase in more than 45 years! Trying to get the fingers back. I absolutely love it (playing through a Blues JR.). I have learned that by playing with the Delta Tone knob, taking it off 10, that you can have fun using all of the pickup configurations and get some great sounds you might not get if you don't "screw" with it.
I feel your joy!

Thanks for the response. I am trying to post photos but I am not sure if it is going to work. Hopefully this is a photo of my new Strat. One other question. I carefully took off the Fender sticker on the pick guard. It looks as though the pick guard is covered with thin film of plastic for protection. Is there a certain way to take this plastic off or should it be left on?
Thanks

Wonderful color. I haven't seen it in the stores.

Think the plan is to remove the plastic and the approach is Carefully. I saved the stickers for posterity but the guitar isn't leaving till I'm cold as ice, so guess in the end I don't care.

That is a sizable amp behind it too. Sweet

Cool! As far a s the "film" just tear it off, it should pull out clean from the screws...

Great choice. The American Strat is being made well these years imo. How does it stack up to your Tele? Nice group of guitars you have there.

Thanks again everyone for the welcoming comments. I also really like the color of the guitar.
Cambo, It's great to get back to playing again too. Glad to see you also picked up a Strat as a new guitar. The amp is a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue sitting on top of a Fender Deluxe 1x12 celestial closed back speaker cabinet. It sounds great, better than my Line 6 Spider IV half stack. A couple of years ago I walked into a guitar store. It was over 40 years since I had. I felt like Rip Van Winkle with all the new stuff they had for sale. So I had a lot of catching up to do. Truth be told, Fender and Gibson were still making quality guitars and amps, so I went back to what was the best in the 60's and it seems to be the best now too.
gldfshkpr, The Strat has a totally different sound. I love the Tele and it's still in great shape. The Tele was the last guitar I purchased new, and that was back in 1967. I always wanted a Strat with a trem arm and I just love this guitar. I picked up my Gibson LP and ES135 used. I am quite fortunate to be able to afford these fine instruments. My children are now adults and living on their own so I have a not more free time and some disposable income.
