Yngwie's strat is an early 70's model -- 1971 I believe...

Yeah I have also heard that. But arent 70s necks drilled strangely for 3 holes?I wasn't alive then but didnt that make the neck lighter or weaker.I dont think Id like that!!

Sometime in the early 70's Fender used a 3 bolt neck instead of a 4 both which is the norm. They eventually went back to the 4 bolt unless it is a 70's reissue model.

The neck itself was not weaker and the sounded as good as any vintage Strat..actually i like the tone of the early 70's Strats better then any.

The 3 bolt neck features a "micro tilt" adjustment which is similar to what is used today on the standard USA models (not highway ones), and these are 4 bolt necks.

The downside to the 3 bolt was not so much the neck being weaker..but it was simply not as stable and would tend to shift a bit which would mess with the string alignment on the neck. A common sight to see would be the players giving the neck a whack on the side to straighten it out.

This is the reason many original 70's Strat owners switch to a 4 bolt neck..unfortunately for the collectors, this decreases the value somewhat...seem Malmsteen used a late 60's neck..which looks identical to a 70's (with the bullet trussrod, but is a 4 bolt.

But if you are a player and not a collector it really should not matter and can allow you to bulid your dream guitar for much less then if using signature unmodified parts..lord knows how many bodies and necks were hacked up for Floyd Rose tremelo systems..the collectors must be sick..lol

Here are the specs for a Malmsteen sig series from wiki..you should be able to build your own and it will be close enough to make you happy, and perhaps in your price range if you find the parts cheap and build it yourself. Find a good priced 60's or 70's reissue body (could be MIJ or MEXI as long as it's alder) and similar pickups..then you have his sound..don't know if you have his chops though and a lot of the tone comes from the fingers they say.

The Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster is a replica of the guitar used by Swedish heavy metal guitarist Yngwie J. Malmsteen, made by Fender. It has two DiMarzio YJM single-coil pickups (neck/middle) paired with a DiMarzio HS-3 Stack humbucking pickup (bridge), a scalloped fingerboard with 21 Dunlop 6000 super-sized frets, a late-'60s large headstock and a brass nut. This Fender Artist signature guitar also features a 3-ply white/black/white pickguard, a deeper scalloped fingerboard, Bullet truss rod nut and machine screw neck mounting inserts. The early Malmsteen Strats (produced before the change to the actual "large headstock" models in 1998) featured an American 2-point synchronized tremolo, small headstock with "spaghetti"-style decal, Gotoh/Kluson tuners and a hardened-steel EasyGlider string tree, a Fender "DeltaTone" single-coil pickup in the middle position and a TBX tone control for the middle/bridge pickups.
