One of the dreams I have is to be able to gather enough cash together and build my own Strats with Lace Sensors. I know there's different "colours" or as you guys would spell it in the USA "colors"......

So.....what setup would you go for or have gone for???

Forum member, Mark Mitchell (smark) has some playing samples of hot golds and others if you do a search in the pickup forum area.

Looks like he's got some on his site now too :

I put three Lace Sensor Golds in mine and could not believe the difference in tone. My 2008 American standard came in the H/S/S configuration. I wanted the S/S/S Strat look so at first I installed the Fender Hot Noiseless. O.K. but not the tone I was looking for. A friend of mine who has a Clapton Strat circa 1988 recommended the Golds. Glad I listened to him. Bell like clarity has a whole new meaning to me now.

I had a Strat Plus years ago with Gold Lace Sensor pickups and loved it. So "Gold" it is.

Well, 5 of my guitars have FLS in them, but I always wanted to try the Emeralds. If I were to buy a new set of Lace Sensors, I think I would go for the emerald silver purple set.

Silver and gold could work, but throwing a red in there- the red will be noticeably hotter.

My plus has 3 gold and the ultra has red/red dually, silver and blue :) I also think emeralds would be a nice pickup

Gold, Gold and Gold! Did I mention that I prefer Gold? I think that the Gold Lace Sensors sound more like traditional Strat pickups, a vintage tone without the noise. I put all three Gold pickups in a Squier Pro Tone that I had a many years ago and loved the sound. Transparent blue, ash body, gold hardware, pearloid pick guard. Regretting getting rid of it now. :(

I couldn't sell my Strat. I don't have kids, so my guitars are as close as I'll get. As for Gold, Gold and Gold. Nice as it may be, I'd love to see what other setups would sound like. Want to have something that can sound like nothing that people have heard before.... Does that make any sense?
