Hi guys!
I have a American Vintage 57 strat and the serial number is V146589.
I try to figure out the procduction year but I'm totally lost while reading the logic of Vintage series serial number because it told me that from 1982 to now, the regulation is V + 4 - 6 digits.

Can someone help me on this?

There are only two ways to date an AV series guitar:

1. email Fender and see if they can tell you when (and to what dealer) your guitar was shipped

OR

2. Remove the neck and check the dates stamped onto the neck heel and the neck pocket of the body.

There really isn't a "logic" to these; the neck plates are tossed into a parts bin and the assembler grabs a stack of neck plates at random out of the bin. Someone on one of the other Fender forums attempted to keep an approximate list of the serial number range for AVs for a given year (done by people who had verified the dates for their guitars). This was several years ago and I have no idea if this list was ever maintained.

I think I would wrote a letter to Fender first because I just change a new set of strings and do not want to take off the neck right now...
