I thought it looked really sweet, and have never seen anything like it

It's beautiful, however not for me. I am not a collector, just a slinger/basher/strummer

In the Fender Stratocaster book by AR Duchossoir they have a pic of a strat like that.

This is Fenders answer to PRS Dragon. Great guitar if you have the money. Personally, it all takes away from the look and feel of a strat done that way...

That looks almost too pretty to play-almost.I'd love to have that take up residence in my music room.I'd like to know what price he has in mind I would venture a guess of not a penny under 4 grand.

A friend of mine had a Gibson Les Paul Supreme in a special guitar of the month finish. That thing was beautiful to look at, so much so he sold it because he couldn't take playing it on stage....

This guitar is a Tree-Of-Life Stratocaster, better known as Schultz-O-Caster. It was designed by former Senior Master Builder Jay W. Black in 1993.

This guitar was featured in the Winter 1993 • Vol. 9 issue of The Fender Frontline magazine and on page 86 of the 'Fender Custom Shop Guitar Gallery' book. The magazine and the book are also included.

This Custom Shop beauty featured a one-piece solid figured maple body finished in brown chocolate sunburst and a maple neck with pau ferro fretboard and a custom abalone tree-of-life inlay done by Bill Swank and Larry Sifel. It also sported three Silver Lace Sensors. Only 29 examples were made.

This series was very ground-breaking for Fender. This is the first Custom Shop guitar to feature a one-piece of figured maple body in addition to a wonderful-looking chocolate sunburst finish and a vine inlay on the fretboard. This guitar is an amazing example of early Fender Custom Shop history and is definitely an investment-grade instrument.

I wonder how it sounds though. Museum pieces are cool if you can afford collecting art, or for an investment if you are not broke like the rest of us, but personally I like plain old frankenstrats that like a Harley, each has it's own personality, but all sound good and familiar.

Interesting trivia however, I can never seem to learn enough about Fenders. Heck I don't even think Fender knows at this point how many odd balls they have made. Collector items now.

The guitar has three Silver Lace Sensor pickups with black covers. These babies are supposed to emulate an overwound Strat pickup from the late 1960s-early 1970s, kinda sort of a Ritchie Blackmore/Deep Purple-type sound.

Not pretty sure if an "Eric Clapton" active mid-boost circuit is present.

It does, however, feature a TBX tone for the bridge/middle pickups and a standard tone for the neck pickup. Same electronic scheme as found on many Pluses, Deluxe Pluses, Jeff Beck signatures and Ultras from that period.

The brown choco burst finish over the solid 2-piece maple body is a real pleasure to view. The gold-plated hardware enhances significantly the overall striking appeal.

I actually own one of these guitars. Serial #007 (I know - cool, right?). I paid $2100 back in 1994. I'd love to have an idea what it's worth today. It's in pristine condition.

When I bought it (new from a guitar shop in Birmingham, AL) it was missing the tremolo bar and the custom shop certificate. I tried back in the 90's to write the Custom Shop and get a replacement bar and cert, but had no success.

It came with a hard body strat case - yellow tolex with brown leather corner guards and an orange furry interior.

If anyone can offer me any insight as to what it might be worth, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Well, this pic is a little tardy, but here it is. I'm considering selling it, but I've got to find out its worth before I list it.

It has no scratches, and is in like-new condition. It still has the protective plastic shrink-wrap on the back metal cover plates. I bought it new in 1993, and I've played it gently maybe a dozen times in the past 20 years. Other than that, it has been sitting in its case in my closet. I do have the case it came in - a yellow tolex hard case with orange furry lining.

Any information on what it's worth is greatly appreciated.
