I'm looking to find a figured wood pickguard (most likely a bird's eye or burled maple) for a strat. Does anyone here have any recommendations of where to get one? I've only found a couple of venors online and the pickguards they sell are actually a layer of laminent glued onto plastic. I'm a little worried about the wood layer separating from the plastic over time. Does anyone know where to find any that are 100% wood?

Any suggestions and experiences with a wooden pickguard would be most appreciated.

Check on Ebay. The are really cool, but break really easily...

Hi, I order wooden guards from George Varkoly who custom builds them. He can do several kinds of wood and the fit perfect. He is fast, personable and professional. This guy sells a lot of these on eBay. You can get a better deal direct from him.

You can email him at: gvarkoly@verizon.net

Nice. I'll definitely get in touch with him. Thanks!

I know a real good place for any type of Wooden pickguards/pickups....Contact www.woodywoodcatsers.com...they can pretty much get ANY kind of wood you require....for just about any type of guitar....even though, you may have to send an outline of the pickguard if current stock is not sufficient....

I bought a Rosewood pickguard for my Strat and a Koa one for my Tele on eBay. Both guitars are black and the wood pickguard is really striking. The seller is bluesman_82 they are solid wood I think and not glossy. I just put some fretboard oil on them every once in a while. The guy was great, he didn't have a Koa for a Tele for sale so I asked him if he could make one for me and he did.

If your handy with wood working tools you could use the old guard as templet. The wood, depending the type can be found at a pro woodworking shop/store. I have seen small wood sheets there. I does look sweeeet! Good luck.
Keep Jammin! Enjoy Life!
