Hi,
Can anyone help me to identify these Stratocaster pick ups?
They have staggered pole pieces, black bobbins and faded white and black cloth wire, but the odd thing is, they copperwire that is almost black not the bright copper colour we all know.
They look old and sound good, the bridge pup has a nice twangsound.
I don't know if they are Fender pups or some othet brand.
They came out a modded 1993 Fender Bullet S-3 who had a modded Stratocaster wiring.

I really did my best to post a picture here but this seems not to work for me so I placed this link I hope this will work. in case it shoulden'd work please type in this link, the photo is on Photobucket.

Many thanks.

So I did manage to get the photo on this forum after all, I am really glad, a photo always says more than a thousand words.
Don't get fooled by the copperwire looking kind a bright it comes from the flash on my camera, in reallity it's almost black.
These pups bear no inscriptions or tags what so ever.
Thank you very mi-uch,
Fenderastic.

do all pickups have black and white wiring?
its vintage staggered with raised d,g. and lowered b.
black bobbins. they are not cs 69s imo due to black bobbins.
if fender, maybe 57/62 if all are black and white wiring.
im no expert, but i know some of the guys here will, answer your question.

Hi,thanks for you reply,
They all have the same black and white cloth wiring, and have black bobbins, the staggering is the same.
They do look indeed like CS pups, but this doesen't fit the time lapse, because the Bullet remaind most of it's life in it's case and was modde long before Fender brought the Cs pups into production.

The stagger looks like mid-50's. Have any pics of the other side of the pickup?

This is the Bullet where they came out, you ca see it was modded poorly, and paintsprayed. A second toneknob was installed (the S-3 only had a volume and a single tone system) so I think that the wiring was redone and someone put in these pups.

They look like some sort of reissue 50's pickups. They might of been in a reissue guitar. I believe they were putting pickups like this in the reissues, even before the CS pups were for sale.

Here's a link to an 84 reissue, the pics aren't too good of the pickups, but you can kind of see the back looks similar, can't really tell the stagger.

Here's another with better pics.

You can't see the windings, but here's a auction for reissue pickups from 1982.

windings look darker.

Thank you very much Jason,
thanks for the links on ebay, I recognized the papertape that held the wires together and the black copperwire on the pics.
now I now what pups they are. They are 1983-84, 57-62 Fullerton reisissue's, wich match the era in wich they where swapped into the Bullet. I won't put em back into the Bullet, This one has to be refinished in the Desert Sand finish it came in originally. I will try to hook up some original Bullet S-3 pups and pickguard, but the 57-62 will surely end up in a Stratocaster, because they are very nice sounding and are balanced really good, from belllike Stratsounds, to biting Teletwang.

Thank you very much.
Fenderastic.
