just got an 08 american standard stratocaster
as en extra for fun (I got real cheap after trading some stuff)
it is black with maple neck some might call that color combo
plain or boring but I think she is classy and official looking
I am most impressed by the pickups having tried many different
sets they are about all you could want out of strat good bass
just enough mids and that chimey top the sound good pushed and
laid back i was going into the deal with upgrades in the back of my
mind but now I'm not so sure to tell the truth I cant see why so many
people pull em so fast I like them this new girl has already earned
a spot in the lineup and will play sunday morning with the SG

just wanted share with my Fender Family

No comments are possible.
Without pics? ..... It didn't happen.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have an 08 Am Std, Blizzard Pearl, Maple neck, and it is a great Strat. 08 is a great year to have, lots of improvements, great guitar. I also thought about changing pickups, I thought that the stock pickups were kind of plain sounding. But, I kept the pickups and got rid of the Cast "Copper Infused" bridge block. I put in a Callaham block and that was enough of an improvement for me. The new block made the sound a little more rich and full and definitely improved the sustain also. It is the most comfortable guitar to play that I have. I love it! I agree, Black with a Maple neck is a classic combination, think Clapton's "Blackie". Every Strat collection should have at least one black one.

I am not much of a player, but I did make a couple of videos on YouTube with it, one is fairly good. I think that the sound quality of the recording shows off the versatility and the good sound of the guitar. If you promise not to laugh, you can watch it here:

C'mon Clem, that's no excuse.

Even "airbornestrat" can post pics......and he's an infantryman.

And an officer.
