First, thanks to those who posted on this forum and helped me figure out what the heck kind of Strat I've owned for the last 25 years... ('83 Standard Second Edition).

While I was looking into that, I discovered that the tremolo I've had sitting in a box since '86 (I replaced the stock FreeFlyte with a Kahler) is actually something people want for parts.

So, I've thrown it up on ebay if anyone is interested. Just search for freeflyte.

If you come across this posting years from now...ping me anyway in case nobody bought it. I'm not holding out much hope of finding a taker in the next 10 days.

BTW, I really like the '83 Std 2nd Edition...but I always felt it was a cheap version due to the plug design...but then I always thought it played and sounded so nice. As a note, in '86 I also replaced the bridge pickup with a SD mini-humbucker.

I just remembered something else.

One thing Fender apparently didn't think about was the distance from the tremolo pivot to the cord plug.

The tremolo arm was long enough (and it swung loose) that when you let go, it could reach over the cord plug...which for me meant a <SMACK> into the cable sheilding each time I let go of the trem arm.
