I'm pawning my friends guitar but I'd like to know first around how much it really costs. It's a 2007 red stratocaster. It's in great conditon, no scratches. I also have a small amp with it too. That's really all I know about it..? But if you could give me your best estimate of how much you think it cost that'd be great!!

Hello and welcome to the Asylum here.

A 2007 Stratocaster, well it depends, where was it manufactured at?
There are ones made in the USA, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia and China.

The value will greatly be effected by where it was made.

As to pawn shops, unless you need cash today you will get far more for it by listing it on e-bay or craigs list.

A pawn shop will only pay a small fraction of the value of any item.

I agree with Jeffytune, stay clear of pawnshops ,they won't give you near the guitar's worth, your best bet is E-bay,Craig's List etc. anything but a pawnshop. As there are literally dozens of Strat models it's essential to know the model, where it's made, any upgrades etc.

If you are "pawning" your friends guitar and amp, You must have intentions on getting it back( I presume ) anyway, get only what you need for cash now, so you will not have to pay a whole lot more to get it back. Do some research and find out what it all costs new, and the pawnshop will most likely loan you 25 to 30 percent. Pawnshops also have a book for most things they buy, like a Blue Book for cars, they have one for stereos, musical instruments tool etc. and most likely they will look in there to see how much they will loan you on something. 8)

Too many variables for a Pawn. I would have to see pictures (front and back) and also see the first 4 didgets of the serial number to give you a proper price estimate. I agree that if you are going to pawn it, you will not get any where what it is worth, unless you truely mean to retrieve the guitar and amp later.

My wife pawned a $500 guitar and only got $75 dollars for it. I was very upset when I found out where my guitar was. Needless to say, that money was paid back very quickly and almost cost us our marriage. I had to tell her which guitar were ok to screw with and which ones not to touch.

I will be interested in plain accoustic guitar that will remind me of my hostel days in Houston.
