The 2010 Deluxe has its pros and cons, depending everyone's personal tastes.

Pros:

1. New compound radius neck; it allows the player to effortlessly bend the strings without hand fatigue.

2. New N3 noiseless pickups; a serious improvement over the previous noiseless pickup designs. These babies retain the traditional Strat quack with no noise.

3. Reconfigured S-1 switching system; provides more tonal options than the previous S-1 wiring configuration.

4. Blower switch on the HSS models; routes the signal from any pickup position to the bridge. Volume and Tone controls are bypassed. The result is an extremely hot humbucking output with a throaty focused midrange.

Cons:

1. Black and white pearloid fretboard dots.

2. No locking bridge option (LT) for the HSS models.

3. Crappy-sounding Atomic humbucking bridge pickup. This issue can be easily fixed by replacing it with a better humbucker.

4. No FMT, QMT and ebony fretboard options.

I tried one with the HSS set-up - underwhelmed by the tone - thought my Am Stndrd sounded noticably better. The HB did make it (the tones) more interesting though...I would get that layout if I was to get one.

I prefer abalone dots for the Deluxes, not those crappy pearloid junks. Clay dots are also good - not as good as abalone - they give a more early 1960s feel.

Any impressions from the blower switch? Are you satisfied much enough of this new feature?

It really made a BIG difference in output/volume - we (the staff and I) weren't sure exactly what it did, but it was effective.
