Poorly shaped headstock, oddly positioned serial number and wonky (un-branded) machine heads?

Must be a fake!

Badly I would imagine!

If the builder put such little effort into the headstock, I think we can quite imagine what the rest of the guitar is like.

If it were me, I would steer well clear of that one!

its possibe that it does. if its cheap enough he could buy it for making a parts guitar.

I'm not a Fender expert by any means, but I agree that the serial number looks pretty fake/bad.

Yes, yes, yes---and yes! :?

Unless the guy is willing to take payment in $3 bills, I'd give it a miss. 8)

Ask him if he will take counterfeit money for his counterfeit Strat. It may be a suitable guitar for modding if the action etc. is alright but otherwise give it a miss unless the price is ridiculessly low.

hold on a minute, you said somebody "offered" you a strat.
offered as in free? usually when somebody offers you something its for free. just saying. so whats the price on this guitar anyways?

Good god. The poor fitting of the tuning pegs in relation to the headstock makes me think of a mutant 6-string P-Bass somehow.

If it was offered to you for free, take it and use it to learn to work on guitars. If you have to pay for it, steer way clear from it. Not worth the wood it's made from.

I've seen Teisco Del-Ray clones from the '60s that looked more authentic!

Run away......quickly!
