When purchasing, you'd have to specify whether the tip is for an American or an imported switch.

Define "imported".

When I replaced the cheap switch that came in my 09 MIM Standard Strat with a higher quality CRL switch, the plastic tip from the MIM switch fit the CRL switch perfectly. Last time I checked, MIMS were "imported" into the USA. :wink:

Depending on the year of your MIM, the older ones (pre-2006) used the imported switches; the newer ones (2006 to present) use an American one.

Define "imported"...



Anything other than Oak Grigsby or CRL switches; all other brand switches not made in the United States.

It's a 96, with the 50th Anniversary decal. So imported it is then I presume.

In that case, dump the old switch completely and buy this:

you can find chrome tip switches on ebay. i also put chrome pup covers and chrome knobs on my mim strat. looks great on lake placid blue body and pearloid pickguard. all bought on ebay for about 25 bucks for chrome pieces, and about the same for the pickguard
