I have bought a very nice mij stratocaster body in surf green. Around the edge where the neck used to sit, the color is more blue, almost like sonic blue. I have never heard of a sonic blue fading in to surf green, so i am speculating if they made the surf green color by painting it blue, and the spraying it with a lacquer that has some yellow in it. looking in cavitys, there is green and wood. It does look original and the previous owner insist it was original. The other mystery is it stamped with ST-54 or STU-54. Shouldent non sunburst mij have the labeld st-57, st-59 or st-62?

(btw the picups will be replaced later on with alnico.)

Actually sonic blue can age to green. if it was clear coated with a lacquer that yellows.

I owned a '65 Sonic that did change to a foam green color.
