Hi, just to mix things up a bit I have a 1990/91 MIM standard Strat in arctic white, rosewood neck. It has been well kept and the electrics upgraded to US spec. In a recent back to back test with a new US standard (same amp and settings) it sounded way better, much to the dismay of the shop! Is this down to how it has been kept, and the ageing of the wood in the body and neck? If it feels and sounds good when you buy it, surely it will only get better with age.

What matters is the guitar itself, don't waste time wondering if the color makes it sound better.Take the guitar off the wall and play it unplugged,if it sounds good new it will sound fantastic after you've broken it in for a few years. :)

P.S. I have an old mex strat and it sounds as good as my american delux the main differance is looks and higher quality parts.
