Can you remove the contol knobs on an American Deluxe Strat like on an American Standard Strat? Or is there something different with the S-1 switching? These are GREAT guitars!

The S-1 switch button must be popped out before removing the volume knob. There is a bit of "trickery" involved to accomplish that. The knobs are conventional in every other aspect.

The button is just have two stems attached to the back side of the button.

You need to pull the knob straight up and the button will pop off with the knob.

I use the two teaspoon method: Take two teaspoons and place to tips of the spoons under the button on both sides. Then press the handle down and the spoon will lever the knob straight up.
