Hi All,

I'm about to purchase my first Fender but I need to ask some advice. The model is 50th Anniversary Strat USA. I've been searching around the net and I noticed that all the Strats on the net came with a Maple neck - the one I'm looking at has a rosewood neck. Should I be worried that it's not a real 50th anni?

Thanks in advance for any comments

The true 50th anniversary came with a maple neck, custom shop 54 pickups and a 2 tone sunburst. All strats made during that year had the 50th anniversary logo on the backplate. These were just normal American strats and wont command the price the actual 50th commemorative strat will.If yours has a rosewood board ,it should be priced accordingly.Hope this helps.

Very true what budlgo said!

I think Fender made it very confusing by putting the same "50th Anniversary" neckplate on both the special editions AND normal American Strats in 2004. A lot of people are trying to sell a plain ol' 2004 American Series as the special 50th Anny edition because of that neckplate and then jacking up the price needlessly. By the way, the real 50th Anny special Strats also came with a tweed case with a 50th Anny logo inside the lid.

Uh...sure he should...if it's NOT priced at a premium claiming it's the "special edition" 50th Anniversary Strat, which it's been established it's not due to the rosewood fretboard.

1,000 is about the going rate for the real 50th special edition (Am Series or Deluxe), but 1,000 is too much for a regular 2004 American Series these days.
