So about two weeks ago I went to my local guitar center and played a nice used Mexican strat. It was advertised as a classic player and the employee said it was a classic player's 60. I did my research and found out the guitar wasn't a classic player 60, then the used gear manager from GC told me it was a deluxe player's strat, but the guitar doesn't have the push button for the extra pickup configs. So I emailed fender and they said it was a Super Strat, which is the earlier version of the deluxe player's before they used the noiseless pickups. I then asked Fender where the pickup button was since the super strat should have it and they never responded. Fender should be right about the guitar because I gave them ther serial # and that's what they came up with but again its missing the switch and there is no hole in the pick guard. Anyway I am not sure if I should buy this MIM or get an American strat. I love strat but have never owned a MIA. Should I just wait and get an American? And do you guys know of any places to get a good deal on a used American strat? Thanks for all your help.

See item 17:

Perhaps the pickguard has been changed and the switch eliminated.

Thanks for the documentation. I probably phrased it wrong, I know where the switch is supposed to be but i wanted to know if it is indeed a super strat where it is particularly on that guitar, but I am not sure if I am going to go through with it. I might just get an american. Thanks

If Fender says it is, I would tend to believe them. My guess is the pickguard was changed. Maybe the switch is still under there like buried treasure.
