I need some help here. I have a guy wanting to trade me some cash and a 60th anniv. strat for my Marshall but I cannot find any info on this model online. This guitar has 2 humbuckers, 2 volume, 2 tone, a 3 way switch, wrap around bridge and a weird pickguard that only covers the bottom section of the guitar. The set up reminds me of a Gibson SG. The guy tells me it's an American Deluxe but I can't find another one anywhere on line. Please help![/img]

60th anniversary? If my math is right, that would be 2014. If you mean 50th, info can be found here:

http://www.fender.com/support/wiring_di ... _lists.php

Look at "American Deluxe 50th Anniv. Strat®".

No, it's a 60th ann. I think it was Fender's 60th not so much the 60th ann of the strat which would be 2014. I found out that is a strat-o-sonic but I can't find any info on a double humbucker model with the 2 tone and 2 volume pots.

Sorry - I don't remember there being a Strat-o-Sonic with 2 volumes and 2 tones. The Tele-Sonic with the DeArmond pickups from that same era did have 2 volumes and 2 tones. Maybe the owner modded it to be more like the Tele-Sonic?

In fact, you only rarely saw a Strat-o-Sonic and most of the ones I've come across were the P-90 version. I think I've maybe seen 1 humbucker-equipped Strat-o-Sonic compared to 7-8 of the P-90 version.

Don't try to act all smart i have a 60th anniversary so i know what i'm talking about and btw fender started in 1946 and 60th anniversary's were made in 2006. ps i think that 60th anniversary is extremely modified i dont know if it even is a 60th anniversary by the way you described it, but thats just my opinion i would see about talking to an expert.

What kind of value should be put on a guitar like this? I own and have owned many American Strats and Tele's so I know what ballpark to ask for them but I don't know about this one. If anyone wants to check it out email me @ fansh.house@verizon.net and I'll shoot you a pic. It really is a cool guitar, reminds me of an old SG junior the way it is set up.

Did it look like this, but with 2 additional knobs?

If so, maybe the guy drilled and rewired for additional volume and tone knobs. Take that mod into consideration when negotiating the trade and cash. Drilling = less resale value.

As for being a 60th Anniversary, well Fender put a little silver button on the back of the headstock of every guitar and the back panel of every amp they made in 2006. The MIA and MIM special edition 60th Anniversary Strats of 2006 have very different appointments and specs to set them apart from the rest. If the guitar in question is indeed what I pictured above, then it is just a Stratosonic made in 2006 that has the little 60th Anny button behind the headstock.

Fender should have learned their lesson in 2004 when they put the same 50th Anniversary neckplate on both the special edition Strats and regular Strats. Everyone that has a regular 2004 or 2006 American Strat thinks it's the 'limited edition anniversary model' when it's not.

Yes, that is it. Thanks for your help. What is the market on these things right now. I just like making sure that I'm able to flip equipment so I'm not in the hole. Right now I'm in the market for a Dr. Z and am not intending on keeping this guitar.

I pulled out on the deal. I just think this guitar is going to be hard to sell. This just isn't what you would be looking for when you go to buy an American Strat. If I ended up having to unload it for $500 then I would had only got $850 for a JCM900 halfstack, that ain't cool!

Lose the attitude or you may find no one willing to listen to you when you make your 3rd post.
