What a wonderful thing to do. Your real gift to your friend is not the guitar, it is you.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Also thanks to you all who wanted to donate for a amp.

The SE starter pack is one of those Squier "stop dreaming start playing" big box combos. It comes with a sweet SE Squier guitar, 10 watt amp, cable, gig bag, stand, picks, electronic tuner, intructional DVD. I mean it comes with everything except a bottle of "talent" and set of beautiful buxom groupies to admire you and you playing!

I don't know how they can sell all of that for $200.00 much less $180.00. I must confess after setting up the guitar and kind of breaking it in for a few hours I wanted one of my own. But I have plenty.

Just look around you. There may be someone who would benefit from a guitar and some of your time.

P.S

What really convinced me to do this was a couple of months ago when he pulled "his guitars' out of the closet. He has a very old Epiphone F-hole archtop electric with a single p-90 on the bridge. The instrument is probably early 1950's. Built by Epiphone when they were USA. It looked like something Gene Autrey would have played. No cut -ways on the body. The wood is very very dry and the neck at the head is cracked.

He also had an equally old and dry Sears silvertone electric that is somewhat of a Stratocaster copy. All the wiring was tattered. The fretboard had become scalloped from excessive playing (if there is such a thing)

Both guitars had not been played in many many years. I don't know if they could be salvaged. He did however ask for a set of strings and much to my dismay I found out he subsequently "fixed" the Epiphone by applying "crazy glue" to the neck/head crack.

After the shock wore off. I decided he was interested enough in playing again so I planned my actions accordingly.

great person, you are. that reminds me how i got my hwy1, i live in brazil, i was depressed by past reasons. my mom reminded that when i was i kid i had a mexican squier, then she gave the bucks to my wife, she got a flight to miami and bought a hwy1 sunburst/maple at the guitarcenter store. when i saw it, i gave my first smile in about 6 months, and then ive cryed.
now i cant live 1 day without at least putting my hands on my strat, even if just for looking at it. thats really a instrument that touches peoples souls.

let us all pray for peoples hearts in a world like nowadays become more rare and rare to see gestures of goodness like this.

long live my friend.

ps: oh and im in for the 10/15 buck for the champion! i live in brazil but i can do paypal!
