I have an aquaintence that is going through a very difficult time.

His wife is dying very slowly of alzheimers and diabetes. Besides the strain of care-taking and he himself has reached the age and physical state that he is nearly a shut-in. He spends large amounts of time just staring at the floor or off into space. Pretty depressed I would guess.

Recently I found out he used to play guitar when he was younger. I kicked around the notion of buying him one and checked out a few pawn shops.

Finally I broke down and bought him a new Squier SE starter pack. I was at a Guitar Center and looking at their selection and told the salesman what I was up to and he arranged for a $20.00 discount. I brought it home and checked it out. It needed a little lemon oil on the fretboard and neck and the strings had a little rust but some lite machine oil and a few hours of my playing cleaned them up a bit. The trem and bridge was set really high and I adjusted the system.

I gave it to to my friend and he was quite shocked, amazed and pleased. He took to it right away and I am hoping it will be theraputic.

It sure made me feel good!

In a time with all the crap we all hear about how everyone is out to screw whom ever thay can, it is very nice to hear a story such as this.
My hat is off to you my friend, if we all could something nice for someone, even if only once a week, this world would surely be a better place. I for one have gone out of my way for others, just to get that feeling just for myself. And it does feel good.
Again, to you I say well done.

You sir are indeed a good friend.

But I have to ask, what is he using for an amp?

If you want too, set up a pay-pal account and lets all give 10.00 bucks for a champion 600 for him.

At GC there 149.99. so it would take 15 of us to do this, a sweet little tube amp that has a golden voice at levels that will disturb anyone.

What do you think?

What a wonderful thing to do. Your real gift to your friend is not the guitar, it is you.

Very nice............I think giving the gift of music is the best medicine money can buy; I just gave my Starcaster to a kid because I bought a new American Deluxe. I got a friend for life; the kid said that he would help me anytime, anywhere! Keep on giving and growing!
