Pros:
Vintage pickups are a little mellow and provide more classic tones
Overwound are hotter pickups for when you want more bite

Cons:
Vintage may not give you all the tone you're looking for if you want more modern tones
Overwound maybe a little much if you're playing blues/jazz, or classic rock.
