I just got a 98 and have some questions.

It has chrome saddles and a pop in trem arm, like on a ultra, just wondering if anyone else has one like that. All my others are screw in arms and the brushed saddles.

I see on Xhefri's page that some came with pop in arms. Also the neck plate is the fender corona california kind instead of just the fender kind on earlier strat plus models, does that sound right?

Thanks.

I've owned 5 plus models including 2 from the same year as yours, but I've never seen one w/ a pop-in arm. Also, all of mine had the blank conventional nameplate.

Well this is what I know about it so far. It has a Blue FLS in the neck, a gold FLS in the middle and a gold FLS in the bridge. I think the middle pickup is the only original one, because the logo is indented, like it's supposed to be in the late 90's. The other pickups have the logo on top of the pickup.

I don't think the saddles are original. These are more like on the Ultra model, but I don't mind. I have my Ebony Frost Deluxe that's wired like an ultra, so I'm thinking about switching bridges, and that way the deluxe will look even more like an ultra.

The neck is a standard Plus neck, schaller locking tuners, LSR nut, right kind of logo for the year.

The body looks like maybe caribbean mist? The guy said it Ice Blue Metallic, but I don't know?

Pickguard isn't orginal, and looks like they had to mod it to get it to work.

I have some older Gold lace sensors that are from 1991 I'll probably use in it for now.

Hey Jason, Im not too sure what the colour of your Plus is- its a nice colour, but none that I have seen before on a Plus. I doubt that this is Carribean Mist however as if we compare the two- C. Mist has more of a darker green in it though the light in the shot could be telling us lies here:

On first glance, Sage Green Met. came to mind but we all know that colour was mim only :)

The more and more I look, it is looking like Carribean Mist. Did you use a flash when you took the shot? :) If not, would you care to take a pic using one and post it up?

Cheers,
B :)

I took some more pics in different lighting conditions.
Also next to my pewter strat plus and my son's LPB strat for comparison.

I switched the saddles to the brushed looking ones off my deluxe. Put the pickguard back to standard white. Changed the pickups to 2 gold and 1 red, but not of the right year, switched the strap lock buttons to the standard (after I took the pics), and switched the neck plate to the kind that just says Fender.

this one shows the colour nicely and is the pic that makes me think otherwise:

Whatever the colour is mate it looks pretty cool. Im linking it to more of a light blue metallic than a green. I assume you used a flash with the above photo? Either way, NICE STRAT!! The colour is very typical 90's colour which is what I like about it

I'm kind of color blind with some reds and blues though, so I don't know.

hard to tell in the others. The guy said it was ice blue metallic, but I don't know what year that color came out. I saw some IBM jags from 99, so mayb

Hey Jason, I was gone to Alaska for 10 days the first week in July. Just now getting back into foruming....That is a odd color. I am sure it is not Carribean Mist, as you and Blertles have concluded. I check the newst Fender color guide and did not see this either. Did the serial number on this guitar start with a N8 or ?? in 1999 there was a few Strats sold as a Plus, with Chrome part but really it was the start of the DX Strats that took the Plus' place. They had the new Fender Noiseless pickups and a Chrome Fender logo and the serial number started with a DN9 and then DZ0...etc. Looks like someone maybe changed a few things around. Nice guitar. Hope you got it for a great price!

The serial number starts with a N8. Yeah I think it's something someone pieced together. Body and Neck are both May of 98, the bridge is a dx type bridge, with the pop in trem arm that has that little hex wrench built into the bottom, and some of the pickups were older Lace Pickups.
Like I said I put the chrome bridge on the deluxe that I have wired like a ultra and it looks nice on there. And got the new one looking a little more stock. I plan on keeping it, so I'm not too worried about it. Now I was just trying to figure out the color.

I got it from a guy who I've bought, sold and traded with before, so yeah it was a good price. I had to sell my 05 sunburst American Standard Strat to cover it, but that's easy to replace if I want one later.

I haven't gotten to play it too much though, I have tendonitis in my left wrist that's getting real bad. I'm having sugery on it on the 30th, not sure how long it'll take until I can play after that.

Sorry to hear about the tendonitis. No fun having these things happen. I use to play a lot of slide on both the guitar and lapsteel/dobro. My fingers now lock up on the bar and so I had to stop doing that. No fun getting older! I have seen this color before, seems like it is a Sage Metallic .... but can't remember.
