i know, most of you wouldnt do that, i thought long and hard about it.
im also not selling it cheap, so if it sells great. if it doesnt then i still have my les paul.

im looking into getting a fender hot rod 62, or vintage 62, or 57 (given that i have an american deluxe im kinda excluding this one)
or the eric clapton strat.

everytime i reach for a guitar, i pick up a strat. my les paul doesnt get play.
its an expensive instrument just sitting there. i love it. however the strat would get alot of play.
after that i will sell my cp 60s and my highway 1 will get modded into a
HH strat with coil tapping.

so anyway, i just posted it on craigslist. let see what happens.

Why not just trade it for a Strat?
Trade a Gibson LP for a Strat  It better be a high end model Stratocaster to do a trade like that.

Sorry to insult you... but is that a real LP

I have never seen one without 4 pots and the switch in that position. What model is it?

What is the biggest turnoff, is it the tone or an ergonomic factor?

I find myself going back and forth between my strat and my les paul. Its all about what mood I'm in. Why sell everything for one guitar? American Deluxe is really nice, I love the new compound radius and N3 pickups.... But for the price of a Les Paul standard (assuming that's what you have), you shouldn't need to get rid of the rest... Personally, I wouldn't use an HH strat unless you coil tapped it..

I don't think you are going to get LP Std money for a double cutaway ebony LP. Double cutaways are not as desirable as single (typically), and ebony
is (again, typically) the least popular color for resale because it is so prevalent. I am not trying to belittle your guitar ... I think it is fantastic.
And considering what you will likely be offered for it, I'd just keep it. Besides, you already own a nice Strat anyway ... you will get the Gibson bug again sometime ...

Back to the orginal post....definitely check out the '62 Hot Rod,I bought one awhile back, and I'll say it again...it's is the best Strat I've ever had,and that includes a real '65 Sonic Blue.
I know it wouldn't be the best for everyone, but this one is magical for me.
Look at and play a couple if you can.

Since you already have a strat, enjoy it. For the trade money or lack of that you are getting, I would suggest you clean it up, change the strings and store it until the LP mood strikes again.

Production guitars are manufactured in large numbers and are not worth much on a trade. That is why when you find one that REEEEAAAALLLYYY calls you, buy it and keep it forever....
