I noticed that the gilmour strat has a special switch to enable the bridge and neck pickups at the same time.

I am currently planning on fitting an EMG DG-20 pickup set and wondered it would be possible to also fit the same switch.

Does anyone know:

1) Is it possible to fit this switch to an EMG DG-20 pickup set ?
2) What kind of switch have you used / recommend ?
3) How exactly is it wired? (is it just connected to the connections on the 5 way switch?)

also - i have a question about phase switches...

Has anyone here ever been tempted to fit three phase switches (one for each pickup) to their strat ? I have thought about doing this with the EMG DG-20 pickup set but i dont think it will work (as they are three wire active EMG-SA pickups).

I have done both of the mods you speak of. I did not go as far as the the one you linked to to with the bracket and all but wiring an on/off switch for the bridge pickup is easy to do.

On my Highway 1 I put in 3 on/off/on (on/off/out of phase) toggle switches and 3 concentric pots for volume/tone on each pickup.

That's a pretty ingenious wiring job Chet, the tonal possibilities must be endless.

+1

I'm seriously considering giving one of my partscasters the Chet Feathers treatment. Love the look of those concentric pots too. Very cool 8)

Ahhh andy can we expect to see something like this on the build you're currently working on?

Nah, but the wiring for my Big Hairy Strat will be pretty contemporary....
