Greetz to all,

New to the forum, but so far I'm impressed with the sheer quantity of Fender-geek vibe here. You guys know yer shite!

So help me out...I bought this sweet little butterscotch strat, s/n Z6129480 (Z6 + 5 or 6 means USA 2006 right? Thus the 60th anni?), here in China. It looks just like the guitar on the logo for the Fender Lounge here!! Well, except the bscotch body color is way cooler than the piss-yellow on the logo.

It has a 60th anni badge on the back of the headstock, maple neck, black single-ply pickguard, pickup covers, knobs, switch cap and tremolo arm cap (though they included a white trem cap too, go figure). It feels like the Delta-Tone tone control for the neck/middle pups, as there is a detent at 10. Last questions: what kinda stock pups are these? Is there anything else special about the guitar? And does anybody have a link to a manual other than the generic "Fender guitars and basses" manual on Fender.com? Thanks in advance!

Does it look like this?

I had one for a short time, they had just the standard american strat pickups in it.

Jason,

Yup that's it, and thanks for the nice pic! When you say AmStd pups that would be the alnico V's, is that right?

I'm going to ask one question.

Does the Strat have a small diomand (a real diomand) with the words "Sixty Years" on either side on the front of the head stock?

If the answer is "no" then you don't have an anniversary model. You have a Strat was made with in the anniversary year, "2006."

Here's a link to see what the guitar looks like.

I'm not sure if they're alnico V's. They're just listed as american strat single coil pickups.

Here's a webpage that has the specs.

Unless this is 2014, you have been sold a bill of goods! The Strat came out(officially) in 1954, plus the color was two-tone sunburst.

Hank,

Sorry bud, you are right, but o so wrong! The strat did come out in the year you say, but Fender came along in '46 my friend! 60 years in '06. Thanks for the reply though, I know you were just trying to help, right? :)

All concerned,

I'm starting to see a trend here, and I blame Fender.

Fender started in '46, hence the "60th Annivary Stats and Teles." The little metal coin on the back was put on all their instruments. My bass from 2006 has it. Mt HWY1 has it.

The Stratocaster started in '54, hence the "50th Anniversary Stratocaster."

So to clear this all up:
50th Anniversary Strat in 2004 = Stratocaster anniversary
60th Anniversary Strats and Teles in 2006 = Fender anniversary

You bought your guitar in China, home of copyright infringed guitars. Serial number is meaningless there unless you pull the whole thing apart to show the forum so we can really see if its real...

Please attach photos of the front and back of the head stock. That will settle question for certain.

The 60th Anniversary Stratocaster of 2006 was available only in a 3-tone sunburst finish. Features included a non-veneered solid alder body, a 22-fret rosewood fretboard with MOP dots, a 3-ply parchment pickguard and three American Vintage '57/'62 Strat single-coil pickups with DeltaTone system.

We still need to see it in pieces to know if its real. If you didn't pay near a thousand U.S. or more for it, you may not have the genuine article...

I have a Butterscotch '05 American Standard Strat. Serial # starts with Z, but its not an Anniversarry model. It doesn't look like the one depicted here except for the black pickgard, pickup covers and knobs. It might be the camera the picture was taken on but the one in the picture looks more yellow than Butterscotch. Mine is much darker.

I think the Z serial number was used on both '05 and '06 Strats hence someare Anniversarry and some are not. As for the Anniversarry Strat being only the sunburst in the picture, I have seen just about every flavor of Strat say 60th Anniversary on it with the Diamond at one time or another.

"The 60th Anniversary Stratocaster of 2006 was available only in a 3-tone sunburst finish" is not quite true. Slightly off topic I know but Fender made a limited edition for Sam Ash. It was a 60th white blonde USA edition and it carries the false jewel in the headstock as well. It also comes in the silver solarium case just like the 60th sunburst. They made 150. I may be wrong but I believe Strats made late 2005 and during 2006 had the 60th emblem on the back of the headstock.Only the sunburst and the white blonde strats came with the "jewel" and the sixty years on the front and a diamond etched onto the neckplate. :D

I'm don't want to be the contrarion here, but, I saw/ played a '05 Black Amrican Special last week with the diamond and 60th Anniversary on it. I also saw, last night, one which was for sale at a shop in Florida, which was neither Sunburst nor White. I know the sunburst one is shown specifically in the Catalog as "The 60th Anniversary Model," but they gave many guitars that designation which were made late '05 and throughout '06 relete with diamond and designation on the headstocks.

Go figure. It's like the Butterscotch Strat I bought, there were two made in '05 one was an American Standard another was an American Standard Ash. I have no idea which one I bought. I think it's the Ash because the grain is clearly visable through the finish. Am I certain? No.

I think Fender some times does things like this to add an aire of mystique to their products and have people engage in lively conversation like this one. Which is good!
