I ordered a special a couple months back. the music store did not have the sunburst in so they ordered it for me wont be ready for another month.( no big deal ). but as i wait and do more and more research i feel that maybe i made the wrong decision. i have been playing for about 6 years and still have lots to learn and im not a pro in any scents. i do want the guitar i pick to hold its value though and have a great guitar. should i switch and get a standard or stick with the special i ordered. any thoughts, facts or information on these 2 guitars to make my decision easier would be great thanks.

Yes, if you want insight, you need to elaborate.

I own an American Special. I did play American Standards and various other Stratocasters before I purchaced the American Special. First let me say that I love the playability of the American Special (SSS) which was one of the reasons I purchaced it. The neck and middle pickups are awesome; however, at times I find the bridge pickup a little tinney. I hope you played it before purchacing and played it with like equipment. I love playing mine.

Can you still switch your order? You have to be happy with what you are playing. Let us know what you decide. Best of luck.

I own the sunburst hss American special, love it, but for 100 bucks more you get the special with a hardcase and more color selections. They were 200 more when I bought mine or I might have looked harder at them.:

Being both MIA, they should likely hold their value comparably. But the Am Std will always be worth more as it is made in slightly smaller numbers and -- surprise, surprise -- was worth more on the day you bought your Am Special. That all being said, you are better off with the Am Special as it comes with better pickups IMO. Just get a HSC for it.

You made a great pick. Don't over think it ...
