I already have an Eric Johnson maple neck Strat (2 tone sunburst) and am looking for a good American made Strat in Candy Apple Red. Which models should I consider?

-Another EJ in CAR?
-American Deluxe?
-Hot Rod 57?

Let me know any others you can think of that might fit the bill. I'm surprised you can't get a regular American Strat in CAR. The closest is Candy Cola. I like the looks of the HR 57 but now that the N3 pickups are out I'm thinking the SCNs should be a thing of the past.

What specs are you looking for? fretboard radius and neck contour?

I'm really just looking for another nice sounding strat. I've got large hands so the neck radius doesn't really impact me that much. I'm intrigued about the N3 pickups but also love the vintage sounds of the 69 hand wound pickups. I really want CAR for my next strat so it sounds like my options are somewhat limited?

if you dig scalloped frets, like i do, then you could try a malmsteen signature. it comes in candy red i believe and you can get maple or rosewood neck.

i played one a few weeks back and it is very versitile, really sweet blues tone and as you see from yngwie's work it can crank really well!

scallops feel nice in my hands but other dislike it, you might wanna try it out

N3 pickups are the best sound noiseless I've heard yet. I think they'd be worth it. Not to mention the new compound radius. Only problem I have with the Deluxe series is the S-1 system. Not a fan of electronics that are prone to failure. Fender has made changes on them and the problems don't happen like before, but doesn't mean its perfect...

Perhaps I'm being overly pragmatic here, but perhaps you should be more concerned about specs than about color...

I want a great sounding strat in CAR. I'm not really a specs guy when it comes to guitars - I play/buy the guitar that sounds best to me. That said the best to my ears for current production (non-Custom shop) strats have been the EJ and Hot Rod 62 - both of which I own.
