Better if Fender launch a MIM FSR Gilmour Strat in the much desireable Candy Apple Red finish, fitted with an EMG DG20 pickup set.

I suppose that's the way it would have to be done. In reviewing the products section, theres nothing in Candy Apple which would serve to swap a DG-20 into. The AVRI doesn't offer it, and the Classic series is Fiesta. Next step up is Custom Shop.

THAT is nicely done. 8) Please do not do things like that to me. I had a ''97 American Standard in natural finish with a rosewood neck and the DG-20. The combination of colors on that one was outstanding. It went out for a Clapton in trade. Its one of those we let get away. The one drawback on th DG-20 is the pickguard. For 'the look' moto doesn't make it. However, in my case the overall guitar was killer.

Thanks Doc. I play that one every day. It is a 2001 Mex Standard I got last year for $225 with a case. The condition was amazing for a 9 year old guitar. I swapped the pickups and the trem block to callaham, and threw the black guard on it. Otherwise it is stock. I did not get the EXG and SPC controls, I'm curious what effect to they have on the guitar's sound. I love the neck on this thing, but I wish it had bigger frets. It is yellowing just slightly and looks sweet to my eyes.

You should review the specs on the EMG website. In my earlier days on the Forum I posted a discussion on the DG-20. In short, I find it most exclusively for lead guitar use. I could not get the classic Fender warm rhythm sound with the EXG and SPC pots rolled back. If memory serves me correctly, the SPC is similar to the midboost circuit in the Clapton, whereas, unlike the TBX, which is a treble/bass cut, the EXG controls the degree of midrange, which accounts for my observation that it offers less where a true rhythm guitar might be desired. It definitely has its own voice and would be an interesting addition to the herd of someone who desires owning a range of guitars of different persuasions. They are a low cost addition, easily installed, and then we can refer you to the threads where we discussed location the battery other than the control cavity.
For me, my participation in the Forum has been quite an enlightening experience. I made certain decisions about guitars, prior to 2007 which I would not have made today.

This is the only one on GC's website. Is this it, but in black? Listed here for $599. Noiseless pickups.

If not, can you post a link to yours?

Thanks.

its not on the website yet, only in the catalog you get in the mail.
we talked about this guitar on another thread and i posted a crappy phone picture of this guitar from the catalog.

here is the thread: http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=40940

Yeah I did not see the other thread till after I posted. sorry! As for stratmuchacho comment about changing the pick-ups I have a stock highway one FSR that came with custom shop 50s in it from fender and I play mainly clean . This is only a back-up guitar and for when friends to play when we jam and we need a extra guitar I wanted to try the Klein scooped mid-range pick ups that are like Fender big dipper pick-ups they are supposed to sound great clean as for the trem block it is something I hear that people doing on this site and thought I wanted to see if it makes a difference . I am not the greatest guitar player and I do need to advance my guitar skills because I am not a natural at it and I have to work at it. I started playing late in life but its something I always wanted to do and I like learning . But there is nothing wrong with trying to get the sound in your head out . The stock pick-ups distort my amps clean channel to easily. I use guitar playing to relax, have fun and meet people who love music .
