Well I went to GC because I was bored and saw this guitar its a MIM FSR GC model strat. I liked the looks so I played and the neck is great so I played some other MIMs to see if it wwas just because of look my mind might be playing tricks. Well the neck is great and the price was $499 so with a little negotiating I also got a set of fender locking tuners for it. I will probably change the pots, caps, and pickups to Klein loaded setup and change the trem block but that's a while down the road. it sounds pretty good now

I've thought of buying the black Road Worn strat and doing the Gilmour treatment to it...I might have to call around to a few GC's today and see if they have one now. My curiosity is piqued 8)

Nice guitar mate.

But, if it sounds good, why change anything?

If I were you I'd just add a neck pickup on/off switch, if your happy with it now.

Or better than Gilmour add a blender pot mod.

That way you get a variable degree of neck pickup to add. Don't bother with the no-load control on the tone pot though. I think it doesn't sound like a strat bridge pickup and just adds a harshness to the bridge or mid pickup alone sound.

Take care of that strat mate, it's an nice one.

Nice looking guitar! When I got the GC flyer in the mail and saw both of the new black guitars I thought that they were Gilmour models at first.

What kind of pickups does it have? Std, or something extra?

Better if Fender launch a MIM FSR Gilmour Strat in the much desireable Candy Apple Red finish, fitted with an EMG DG20 pickup set.

Wow, just thinking of it makes me drool! I have always like his red Strat better than the black one. It could happen, some other signature strats come in both Mex and Amer versions.

I tried to do a hybrid, the black look with the EMG SAs.

I can't find this online in black. GC has it in white and sunburst. Is black a new model or old?

This is the only one on GC's website. Is this it, but in black? Listed here for $599. Noiseless pickups.

If not, can you post a link to yours?

Thanks.

Thank you Nikininja!!! That's the only thing that I don't like about this forum, lots of people think that they have to mod their guitars out their ears to make them sound good. Maybe just play them for a while, advance your skill? Rather than just upgrade upgrade upgrade. Sorry for my ranting

Thanks. Odd, I get the catalog, but I didn't get the July one. (Maybe my mailman swiped it). I pulled the catalog up from the website and found the guitar. It answers all of my questions. Tinted neck looks good. Black/white pickguard is OK. If only they replaced that with the 1ply black pickguard, then it would look even more like a Gilmour Strat. But, that's a simple mod.
