I have just purchased an EMG DG20 pickup / pickguard set. I'd like to try and replace the knobs in the set with the "ivory" colour SA pickups that are in the set. I did originally purchase the following original fender "aged white" knobs from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0625088524

Problem is that these "aged white" knobs are too dark compared to the "ivory" SA pickups.

I have now seen these knobs on ebay (i dont think they are original fender ones):
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0393514130

and you can see that the "ivory" colour knobs are even darker than the "aged white" ones.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get some strat knobs that match the "ivory" pickups in the EMG DG20 set ?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Hi mark.carline: you just happen to have come to exactly the right place. Here's an EMG SA pickup with the "ivory" covers, and three sets of plastic parts to go with it:

Image

On the left are white Fender knobs with 20 years of actual aging on them. On the right are a set sold as "aged white". The ones I think you will prefer are in the middle: I bought those from WD Music (.com or .co.uk, depending which side of the Atlantic) and they are named "antique white". That's the closest match I've ever found to the EMGs.

That photo comes from this page of a very, very long thread earlier this year:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... start=1275

If you move forward another four pages in the thread you can see what those plastic parts look like on the finished guitar. And if you go back to page one you can see the guitar being built, neck and all...

Cheers - C

There's a couple ways to turn knobs to an off white color. Cheapest is soaking them in coffee. Be careful because the longer they sit in coffee, the darker they will get. Give it about 5 minutes a shot..

You're so congenial, and so organized. Surprised no one referred him to EMG. Seem to recall the knobs on my DG-20 matched well. By the way, did we ever hear that guitar of yours played :?:

Matter o' fact that's absolutely true. And she's using it to pencil in certain interesting dates. Regarding which I'll contact you through other channels...
