Hello! Been a while since my last post here...

I'm finally free from college for the summer and have more time with my guitar, so I thought why not try recording with my computer?

However, when I connected some stuff here and there, I got a very loud and sharp feedback.

What's weird is that ever since that feedback my amp sounds much more treble-y and have more clang. I don't mind the clang with my clean tone, but the distorted tone became annoyingly harsh. I'm pretty sure something happened to the amp since my les paul on its rhythm channel sounds like the bridge pickup on a strat.

What are your expert opinions? Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem, if it is indeed fixable?

It does sound like something could be wrong with the amp.

You better take it in to a qualified tech.

Line out on amp or headphone out if it operates at line out levels as well.
Conect that into the PC sound card line in.

Do it wilth the amp off is best. Make sure the line in on the PC sound card is turned right down (you do this in the OS) and the volume on the amp is right down before switching on the amp.

Sounds like you have a solid state amp and its not so happy now.

Check your tubes if its a tube amp and/or plug it in an extension cabinet while disconnecting the main speaker (if its a combo amp). You'll know if you blew the speaker or a tube that way...

I do have solid state amp, in fact.

Any suggestions on what I could do to the amp?

the idea of trying out a different speaker is a good one.

Otherwise, are you good at electrical circuitry?

I'm not good at electrical circuitry, but I know a few people who are.

How were you hooking the amp up to the computer? Does it have an FX loop? Is the problem just in the gain channel? What make/ model is the amp? Have you recorded with it before without issue?
