i have an old 1989 mij strat wich had the poly finish all over , even in the cavities , i sanded it down a few weeks ago and even removed the poly from the pup routs and the spring routs as well , i never put any shielding paint in , i just left it bare (there wasn't any to begin with ) i have to say the strat now sings 8) and i don't get any more hum than i did before ,
