Hi guys!
I'm a brand spanking new Fender owner. I mean, brand spanking new.

So I just got my Strat this afternoon and had a question to ask. The fretboard has a slightly milky haze to it. Is this normal for a brand new guitar fresh from the factory? I've honestly never bought a brand new guitar, so I have no idea what are considered manufacturing irregularities and what's not. If it's normal, will it wear out over time? In all honesty, it plays well and everything else seems to be in order, but hey... she's brand new!

Mexican 60s Classic Player Strat with a rosewood fretboard.

Sorry for all the double negatives and thanks much!.

Does it have a maple or rosewood fretboard? Some maple fretboards have a satin-type finish. A rosewood board should shine up really nicely with some fretboard conditioner and a good buffing. I use Gibson Luthier's Choice pro quailty fretboard conditioner with good results on rosewood or ebony boards. Good luck!

If it's a maple finished board and it looks milky (same as cloudy) then it sounds like there's water in the finish. Fender probably needs to drain the condensation out of their air compressors, which is probably the job of the spray gun man. Obviously "somebody" was slacking that day, hehe

If it's not very noticeable, I personally wouldn't worry about it. But if it is noticeable, I would return that thing in a heartbeat.

A picture would be nice.
