Hello, this is my first post here and just a quick question about my first electric guitar. I was recently given a Jimmie Vaughan signature strat for a gift. It is used but belonged to a family member and is in mint condition. I don't know if it is just my playing style or what ( I am used to acoustic guitar) but when trying to play chords the low E string slips right off the edge of the fret board sometimes. If I am really light with my touch it won't happen but when trying to do quick chord changes or really getting into it, it always happens. Is there a way to fix this without major changes to the guitar. Would a new nut fix it or can it be adjust some other way. It is litteraly the first electric I have ever played (and I love it by the way) so I don't know if this is common or what? Thanks!!!!!!!!

I'd try heavier strings. My brother's a Bass player who took up the Banjo, he had the same trouble. He had to find the heaviest string the banjo could handle before he could fret the thing without squishing the strings right off the neck.

Oh Yeah, you're super lucky to have a JV. His Strats are one of the best MIM models out there.
