Post subject: help with pickguard

i need 2 take the pickguard off my strat and im kinda confused how i do this any help would b great

Just unscrew the 11 screws around the edge of the guard and lift the guard up and away from the body. Once you have the guard off, you can remove pickups, switch, etc by unscrewing the screws that hold those components to the pickguard.

Remove the strings, remove the screws, lift pickguard up from the bridge end. It will only be able to moved a few inches because of the wiring.

Note: when you put it back reverse start the screws by hand before you screw 'em in. That way you won't strip the wood.

Agreed, I usually turn each screw a few turns to make sure everything lines up before I finish them off.

If you do happen to strip a screw hole cut the end off of a toothpick, apply a dab of good ol' Elmer's Wood Glue to the toothpick end and push it down in the hole. Let it set for a few minutes, then put the screw in as normal.

Or you can roll up a small piece of paper, put it in the hole longways, and then screw in the screw.
